Flat Earth Project
This website is the information page for our project
"The earth is round, like a pancake"
We are working on a documentary about the possibility of a flat earth.
None of us actually claim that the earth must be flat. The goal of this project is not to prove that the earth is flat.
The goal of this project is to show that people accept claims of science without really thinking about it.
We want to show that science can't prove anything and is always biased.
'Flat earth believer' is a term that is used for all people that don't accept claims of main stream science. But is that science? It is biased in itself because you call alternative views 'pseudoscience' and treat it as useless.
We argue that people who call others 'flat earth believers' without really investigate their arguments are in fact the 'flat earth believers.' The discussion on our website about the flat earth is meant as a parable, an allegory.
We try to stay true to the general Flat Earth Theory as presented by the Flat Earth Society (FES). For serious discussions about the shape of the earth, visit their website. Our website is only about the philosophical argument.

The Bible and the flat earth; an important theological note
Note:
Many believe that the christian church taught a flat earth in the middle ages, and that this vision was based on the bible. It must be noted that this is not true.
The Bible does not talk much about the shape of the earth. We will address that later also on this website.
For now it is sufficient to take one verse from the Bible and analyze it:
Isaiah 40:22 - It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: (KJV 1611)
This verse is mostly used on the internet to prove that the Bible teaches a flat earth. It is important to note that the Hebrew word translated here with circle does not just mean 'circle' it means round. It is the word "חוּג (Chug)"
This word simply means round and can be translated as circle, round disk, ball, horizon, globe, sphere, orb. It is the bias of the translator that makes it a 'flat' translation.
It is interesting that the prophet Isaiah knew that the earth was round, he did not say 'it is he that sittheth upon the square of the earth'
The translation sphere is used in the Dutch Statenvertaling 1637. Dutch is my first language, so for me it is clear.
Hij is het, Die daar zit boven den kloot der aarde
The word "kloot" is an old Dutch word for ball.
In modern translations (English: International Standard Version and Dutch: Nieuwe Bijbel Vertaling) is the word Chug translated with 'disk' (schijf in Dutch). This translation begins with the bias that people thought that the earth was flat, not with the text itself.
Summary:
Isaiah 40:22 says that the earth is round, but does not directly say whether it is a circular disk or a globe. In this case 'horizon' or just 'round' would probably be the best translation
He is the one who sits on the earth's horizon; its inhabitants are like grasshoppers before him. He is the one who stretches out the sky like a thin curtain, and spreads it out like a pitched tent. (New English Translation)
